To Be (Live)

By Michelle Largent

FALL 2014

Everyone one is unique and gifted in their own way. Originally people assumed that children with cerebral palsy had no thought processes. It took a brave woman to push the boundaries of societal norms and she proved that these children were highly intelligent and not just vegetables. My project focuses on the creation of a language system based on symbols to give children with cerebral palsy the ability to communicate. It shows the importance of communication to human life whether that means interaction with other people or simple expression of one’s self or ideas. I want to use the choreography to show the relationships that communication plays in our daily lives and how important it is for everyone to have a form of expression.
